After Matisse’s ‘Green Stripe 1905’

Green Stripe, 1905, is a famous 20th century painting, a portrait by Henri Matisse of his wife, Amélie. In Matisse’s original portrait, he used colour to describe the painting. I wanted to draw from this in Sennelier oil pastels on Canson grey pastel paper, as I am also interested in colour in most of my works. I wanted to learn about how Matisse approached colour in his painting. I love the vivid, arbitrary colours he used in his work.
