Woman Looks at a Painting on the Wall and Sees the Ocean

I started another sketchbook in December 2025, and this was one of the drawings in this book. It’s in a spiral-bound sketchbook, and I am using a variety of media. ‘Woman Looks at a Painting on the Wall and Sees the Ocean’ is drawn in graphite pencil, showing the back of a woman with long, wavy hair in a strapless dress, looking at a painting of the ocean on the wall, of a large wave. The painting is positioned in the corner of a room, near a curtain, with candelabras on either side. It is a strange scene for this viewer, we wonder what she is thinking about what she sees in the painting of the ocean.
