‘Synaesthesia Self Portrait’ is a drawing of the letters in the word Synaesthesia, starting at the top of the drawing, going clockwise around from the letter “S” to the letter “A”. As in my earlier post, ‘Self Portrait with Synaesthesia Zodiac’ (11 May 2024), this recent drawing by me is also inspired by spatial-sequence synaesthesia. The months of the year are also written on the drawing, but they are anticlockwise. The figure in the middle, as in my other drawing, is the back of my head, with my hair visible. In spatial-sequence synaesthesia, the months (and certain dates) of the year seem to float around in space, occupying particular positions, and days of the week, decades, and years are also in particular positions as seen in the mind’s eye. I used marker pens, ranging from Uniball pens to Stabilo Pen 68 and Sharpie markers on A2 paper.
