This is a drawing I made, using marker pens.
Raymond Isidore (1904-1964), started covering his house, which he had built for his wife and himself in 1937, from glass and pottery fragments at the end of each working day. He worked as a cemetery sweeper in Chartres, France. The whole interior of the building and the furniture were entirely covered in mosaics. The garden was also covered in mosaics. Religious elements can be found in depictions of cathedrals and depictions of the city of Jerusalem. You can find Chartres Cathedral here too. Raymond Isidore referenced calendars, postcards and newspaper photographs in order to create this very beautiful house.
